Cecil Solidarity has sent the following to The Tome School:

Dear Faculty of the Tome School,

We are writing to you today to thank you for your recent recognition of the importance of inclusion and education about diversity and social and racial inequities. In the wake of recent events regarding racial tensions in our communities, it is more important than ever for our children to have a sound understanding of the history of race relations in our country and for them to be exposed to a diversity of perspectives that is representative of the experiences of all Americans, including people of color. The summer reading list that was provided to your students demonstrates a strong value in providing children of all ages with developmentally appropriate exposure to the important issues facing our nation today. Your reading list demonstrates that the education you are providing your students is inclusive, multicultural, and representative of the stories of the diverse group of people that make up the fabric of our society.

Our community is fortunate to have a school that prioritizes equity and diversity and fosters an environment where all students can learn and thrive together. Cecil Solidarity commends you on a being a leader in our educational community. Thank you for all you do for our children.

In Solidarity,

Cecil Solidarity, Inc.
